I've recently had trouble with my computer turning off and then cycling back on and off over and over until I turn off the power supply or turn off the surge protector.

Asus ATX Mobo
i5 2500k
GeForce 240
Windows 7
3 sticks of 4gb Corsair Vengeance memory.

I thought it was a problem with overheating because when watching Realtemp and performing a high load program like a newer game or converting a video file, the temperatures would reach 95c+ until I quickly turn it off. I cleaned the inside out completely, installed a new CPU fan/heat sink (Gemini II S524) which then had the temps topping out at about 60c.

But the problem still persists. It does pretty much the same thing every time, it pauses momentarily, becoming unresponsive, then the monitor blacks out, and then it turns off a few seconds later. It then turns back on a couple seconds after, then turns off again right after the fans start spining. It then cycles this over and over again.

I'm in the process of running memtest86+ but before I did that I removed one memory stick at a time to see if I could quickly identify a bad one but the problem never went away.

I don't have the luxury of extra parts like a motherboard or power supply so at this point I've basically decided to replace everything piece by piece until the problem is fixed. I was hoping there would be a better way to troubleshoot this problem so I came here looking for help.

The most common thing I've seen is that its showing signs of the motherboard failing, which is unfortunate because its only a couple years old, if that. Are there other signs or tests I can do to either rule out or confirm that its the motherboard short of installing a completely different one?
