Hi, I recently built myself a new PC and also got a new WD My Passport 2TB (WDBY8L0020BSL). However when I tried to plug the external HD in, there was no pop up or anything. The HD is found in the "Devices and Printers" but was not in "My Computer" or the Disk Management.

It's definitely not a problem with my HD because I am able to plug it in to my laptop without any problems. It is possible for me to plug in pendrives only my external HDs have this problem. This also occured for my other external WD My Passport 1TB. My first attempt was done with my 3.0 USB port, it didn't work; but when I tried it with the 2.0 usb port, it works and even installs the driver properly. Then I though maybe the driver would work now so I tried it again with the 3.0 port, still didn't work.

I've tried uninstalling the drives and downloading the WD SS Driver from WD Support website but nothing would prevail. Can anyone help?

System Specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Core i7-4770 @ 3.4GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 2GB
Asus Sabertooth Z87 LGA 1150
SILVERSTONE Strider Gold ST75F-G 750W ATX

Is this WD drive a USB3 drive? If so, have you attempted to connect another USB3 device to your system to ensure the USB3 connectivity is available? There is a good chance that you will need to uninstall and re-install the USB3 drivers or at least update to the latest release.
