Hi, I just built a new system. I did a clean install of windows 8.1 on a ssd and also have a hdd for storage. Everything is working great however in the couple weeks leading up to my build I was doing lots of research (mainly on my phone when I was bored, and now I can't seem to find it again) and came across an article/guide in my google searches about doing some optimization of the ssd once Windows was installed. It had steps to move non critical windows files to the hdd(things like user files aka where my documents are saved) and also setting up trim and just a step by step of everything to do to make this as clean and efficient as possible.

What i'm looking for is hopefully a link to this guide or something similar so I can get everything working the best it possibly can.

A little more info about me/the build: I have another ssd on the way so this will be a dual boot windows/linux box soon with the hdd shared between them. This will be used mainly as a gaming rig but I will be doing some work in Visual Studio coding also. I'm looking for more advanced things then just defrag or whatever the basics on google say, more getting deep into settings and using the command prompt to really optimize.

More about : windows ssd hdd clean install

That is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for, although if anyone else has a good guide that they prefer I like to do lots of reading and compare multiple sources, but thanks for the quick response!

As for your personal folders...
This solves the problem...

It's a bit complex, though!
Personally I re-locate each folder manually. I create 5 'New Folders' on the target drive, navigate to each folder in turn in 'Users' (My Name). e.g. 'Desktop', Rt Click, 'Properties' and open 'Location' tab. Choose 'Move' and navigate to New Folder on the target drive and choose that folder. Click OK and continue until contents are moved. Repeat the process with next Folder e.g. 'Downloads' and move to 'New Folder(1) and so on until you have moved all folders.

Samsungs Magician software if you have a Samsung drive or something similar if you do not can help with some of these things.
