Hello!
I want to have a RAID 0 set up with a pair of ssds, however, one of them is a samsung 840 evo 120gb and the other is a crucial m500 120gb, I wonder if they would work together considering they have different controllers.

Also the samsung one is half full and the crucial is empty, I have a spare hard drive which I will use for help. Do I need to copy all of the files on the samsung (also holds the OS) onto the hard drive then I format both of the ssds and put them in raid 0, then I copy the files back?

Any help will be much appreciated!
Thanks.

As far as the different makers of the SSD drive's that should not make any difference. But when you setup the SSD's in a RAID 0 Array both drives will be formatted and you will loose all info on them. You will need to back up any important data and re-install the OS. I do not know of any other way around that. There are programs that let you clone the hard drive and restore it but I have never used any of them. I have found it just as easy and fast to install the OS and go from there. For one I keep all my important files on a different drive any way along with my music movies documents downloads and such I never keep them on my boot drive.

With all that said I have my RAID 0 SSD setup with two different make/model SSD's and have not had a problem with them at all.
