I have a desktop (Win7) and a laptop (Win7). The DSL connection uses a Motorola 2210 modem. I use a Belkin F5D wireless router. The desktop is connected to the modem and the laptop connects through the router. Every so often I will loose internet connection. The wireless router shows orange for connectivity, but the modem shows okay. However the desktop looses connection as well. I unplug the wireless router (power) and replug it and it comes up again for 5-10 minutes then repeats. It has begun to happen rather frequently recently. I've seen this posted a few times, but have never found a solution. Thanks for any help.

There are three possibilities here:
1) The cable between the router and modem
2) The modem
3) The router (most likely)

Even though this isn't the most likely, it is the simplest to try - replace the ethernet cable between the router and modem. I would suggest a hard reset of both the router and the cable modem after doing this (remove power, and leave it off for at least 30 seconds).

If this doesn't solve the problem - see if you can connect directly to the cable modem with your computer or laptop (this tests will indicate if the problem is with the router).

If it isn't the cable or the router, it must be the cable modem.
