Is my graphic card good enough and should other parts be changed out instead?

I am currently using a HIS Radeon 7870 ghz edition iceQx Turbo 2gb graphics card in my computer.

However my cpu is only a QuadCore AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition 955, 3200 MHz with a

Asus M4A89GTD Pro/USB3 AMD 890GX, AMD K10 motherboard and 8GB 1333mhz ram clocked to 1600mhz.

I have begun playing battlefield 4 with this setup but i am not satisfied with the current FPS i get from this game and feel my graphics card should be able to produce at least a stable 60fps@1080p wich is my gaming resolution.

i am running win7 64bit and have a corsair force 3 gt 120gb ssd with windows and the game installed on it.

My current fps if i run BF4 at medium settings in a 64p multiplayer match barely ever reaches 60 fps.

I want to upgrade but if the card is enough for a while longer i will rather dish out for a new cpu as my mobo supports the FX6300 or higher already.

Thanks for any help and advice i can get.

Solution
you could try to overclock your cpu especially with that unlocked multiplier to see if the cpu is what's keeping the fps down. check also temperatures of the card and cpu to make sure it's not an overheating problem instead.
Yes overclock your CPU. I assume you are playing at the High graphics preset? There is no way a 7870Ghz can reach 60fps in Ultra.

And 64p multiplayer is very demanding, so you get noticeably lower performance than in singleplayer if you have seen some of the benchmarks.

Yeah not playing in ultra right now im just at medium/high/low custom settings in the game to get the best performance. I guess OC the cpu is something to try.

The temperatures are phenomenal so their not the problem. the GPU never reaches over 60celcius on full load due to the accelero arctic xtreme triple cooler i have on it and the CPU barely gets warm since it has a huge Noctua cooler on it.

Now i just need to learn how to overclock the CPU properly since im not really well versed in that topic!

go into the bios and increase the multiplier in small steps or from the amd overdrive in the catalyst control center (vision center whatever)

edit: increase it in small steps and run a couple of minutes of prime95 to make sure it doesn't crash. 4.0ghz should be easy to reach since you have a good cooler. if you reach 70C during load or if it crashes (restarts) it's time to stop and go back to the previous value.
