thankyou in advance

Solution
No I would just replace your current RAM. Otherwise, just buy another 2x2GB kit of the exact same RAM you have and plug it in. 2x4GB is the sweet spot in terms of value right now, and leaves 2 DIMMs open for future expansion, but you will probably never need more than 8GB.

sorry have updated the thread, first time i ever posted on here ! i want to game on the pc i currently game and can play ultra on most with frames on some steady at 50 but others do drop to around 30 , budget would be about 300 , really this is just an idea to how much it would cost to get a really decent build and what i need to save up to , thankyou

That is still a very capable system. I would consider getting an 8GB kit of RAM, and then maybe upgrading the GPU.

With $300, I would make these upgrades:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Memory: Patriot Viper 3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£59.99 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card (£255.00 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £314.99
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

In order to upgrade your CPU you would need a new motherboard as well. Your current CPU is fine for now, I think you would get a much bigger increase in gaming performance with some additional RAM and a new GPU.

I'd get the 8GB set (2x4GB), that way YOU know the sticks will work as a set, then can always try and add the old sticks for some bonus DRAM or sell them off/use in another computer. Would BUY DRAM planning to mix it as any time you mix sets it can be problematic, no guarantee a new set will play nice with the old ;)
