I recently built my first gaming PC and I've been having some issues. Sometimes when I'm playing games such as BF4 and WoW the game will freeze and a Windows tab opens up saying "X has stopped working".

I also blue screen sometimes when I'm downloading games or using a lot of memory(games+firefox+etc open at the same time). Most of the time the blue screen says "Memory Management" and it restarts the computer automatically.

I want to fix this but I don't know where to start. Help please

Will getting more RAM fix it?

Edit: Also, when it comes up with the "X has stopped working" and I load up another game the game will stop working on loadup. When I restart my computer the problem is gone until the next time the game decides to "X has stopped working". So basically I can play until the
"X has stopped working" then I have to restart my computer and I can load up the game again.

It sounds to me like maybe you're getting low on memory or you have a bad memory module. I recommend running a Windows Memory diagnostic test on the installed memory:

Open Memory Diagnostics Tool by clicking the Start button on the bottom left, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type Memory, and then click Diagnose your computer's memory problems.‌ Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Next

Choose when to run the tool

For more information on running the test, go to: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer

As for the blue screen of death, try this link:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Resolving-stop-blue-screen-errors-in-Windows-7

I hope that helps to resolve your issue.

Just ran the Memory Diagnostics Tool with both RAM installed and it said hardware problems detected, contact computer manufacturer. I'll remove 1 of the sticks and run the Memory Diagnostics Tool again.

Okay so I ran the tool for both sticks 1 at a time and one of them came up with hardware problems. I'm going to go to the store and get new RAM to see if it works.

Alright so I just bought some new ram and ran Memory Diagnostics Tool and nothing bad came up. Going to play a couple games and see if they crash/blue screen.

Edit: Alright looks like everything is working fine, thanks for the help.
