AMD FX 4100 upgrade with no bios update

My AMD FX 4100 processor is damaged and I cannot boot the pc to upgrade the bios. Does anyone know where I can find out if I need a bios update to get a different AMD processor? Or do I have to get the same exact one?

I would rather spend the money on an upgrade since the price would be near the replacement costs.

Search for the support page for your mobo. The manufacturer has a list of supported cpu's including the minimum bios version.

If it ran the 4100 it will run the FX series (AM3+) PCPartPicker is showing that because there is a small % of motherboards that needed a BIOS update for the Vishera platform

As HiTechObsessed say, you have at least version 1.10 on your board and that alread supports the FX cpus. I'm confident, the board will boot with any cpu on the list. The board only needs an update afterwards, to identify the cpu.

Oh ok. Just wanted to make sure you weren't just assuming it went bad lol

What is your budget by the way? We can get you a good AM3+ CPU. The 6300 is a good one, and is only $110 I believe, but you can go up or down from there.

Yea, I think I may get the 6300. Can't believe it is cheaper/same as the 4100. Thanks for all the help.
