Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at this. I was using an integrated graphics card before installing my new one last night. After installation of the card, my CPU increased in temperature by 1 degree Celsius per 5-10 seconds. I'm getting told it can be the card blowing warm air into the case but that wouldn't increase temperature so dramatically. I'm also being told that my graphics card could be incompatible but I doubt that. Another thing I've heard is that my graphics card is working directly with the CPU after installation of the drivers. I have a third party CPU fan with 2 exhaust fans and the graphics card has a fan. The graphics card is a Gigabyte GeForce GT640 2gb and the processor is an AMD a8-6600k 3.9 ghz quad core and the motherboard is an asrock fm2a85x extreme 6. Is there a way to lower this temperature a bit so it can stop overheating my computer? Thank you again for reading.

Does your CPU temp rises only when on load or also on idle? when your CPU temp reaches critical levels (what temp btw?) what are the temps on the GPU? this to know if it could really be the hot air of the GPU affecting your CPU...

If it happens only when both CPU and GPU are on load either you have a bad air flow in your case or simply your CPU is finally being maxed out which didn't happen before with the iGPU (will depend on whats the max temp your CPU reaches).

The gpu temp isn't too high, I don't know exactly but somewhere around 40-50 Celsius. This all happens when I'm on the bios screen. I watch as the temperature gradually rises to 95 Celsius before it shuts itself off. I do not let it get that high anymore but I did want to see the max temperature.

Also, it is the CPU that is reaching 95 degrees, sorry for missing that clarification.

now that's really high, even worse while at BIOS, any chance your CPU voltage got altered at all? other than having a too high voltage value the only thing that would push the CPU temps that high is if your cpu fan wouldn't be working or if the thermal paste worn off.

Yeah I haven't tried that just yet. Just got home from work and I'm going to tinker for a bit. I will be back with an update in about 30 minutes or so.

I lowered the overall voltage of the CPU and the temperature is slowly dropping to a functional temperature. Thank you very much for your help!

Glad to see you managed to solve the problem, so the CPU voltage was above it's default value?
