Hello there I'd like to start off by saying sorry if this is the wrong category but this issue could mask off into other pieces of hardware.
I was playing world of tanks and had forgotten to turn up the fan speeds on my case as I had just genuinely forgotten as I was quite tired. I had been playing for about an hour when the screen went black and the computer went into sleep mode and turned off and restarted in 5-10 seconds I put my hand next to some of the case meshing and the air was quite hot. It now crashes while loading windows and on windows itself randomly.
I ran memtest on each of my individual memory modules (4gb corsair dominator platinum) and both came up with a lot of errors and in one test the pc black screened and restarted.
I have put brand new ram in that I borrowed off my friend and the problem still persists.
I ran fur mark to test my gtx 660 on default settings at 1280x1024 and it was showing 15fps and got a terrible score.
I have also reinstalled the nvidia drivers but it did not help.
I have run windows in safe mode and it works perfectly fine, no crashes whatsoever.
Now here's my question: what could be the cause of this?
Specs:
CPU- i5-2500
Gpu- gtx 660
Ram- 8gb corsair vengeance
Psu- corsair hx850
Mb- gigabyte ga-z68x-ud7-b3
Samsung 120gb evo ssd
No overclocks all stock

Thank you for the help in advance :)

Try unplugging your PC, then popping out the CMOS battery on the motherboard, wait about a minute, pop it back in and restart.

Also check your GPU is seated correctly, and that the motherboard doesn't have any visible signs of burnt components

Might try reinstalling Windows, sounds like something got corrupted somewhere if safe mode works.

I have reinstalled windows and it worked fine for about an hour although there were some graphical glitches such as explorer and the desktop were just a blank colour but after a few seconds loaded again. Am I right in thinking this is a graphics card error?

Does your motherboard have a speaker on it, and if so does it beep at you when the computer is turning on?

Have you tried putting the GPU in a different PCIe slot? Try em all out if you can lol

Can you get your friends PSU and test that out? Could very well be a GPU problem though, could also be a motherboard problem.
