I personally advise that people get AMD cards. I've had far fewer issues with amd cards, as in none. They've worked for me. They overclock better, and tend to be able to take higher voltages. They tend to be cheaper for the same power, and they tend to have more ram. the 770 and 780 are two high end cards. If you're looking to spend that much, I'd go for a 290x. But here is how you pick a good card. You look at a price range (ie $200-$300). Then you find the best card in your range. That's the best you can do. How much are you looking to spend? Tell me and I can give you some advice. All I can advise is that you avoid evga. I've personally owned 3 cards by them, and between me and my friends, there's been about 7 or 8. ALL of them...

gtx 760 is a beast for the money and has 170w tdp compared to 770 that is only 10% better and consumes 230w. go 760 you will love it. if you want to lower your price get a i5 since that i7 over i5 in games is lame at differences. be smart don't spend to much and be a victim of technology since i7 is not worth the price.

ALL of them except one has had issues with breaking, sli, etc. I've had no problems with amd though, and sapphire is really good. I would pick sapphire for AMD, and Zotac for nvidia. MSI makes both, and I'm pretty sure they're good.

Some interesting advice here.

Personally I would go with the i7 for future proofing. They are only making one more chip series for LGA1150 and the prices of the chips won't go down that much. Getting hyperthreading now will be good for future games that will use the extra 'cores' (See 8core XboxOne and PS4)

As to video cards. Nvidia usually has the edge in efficiency and at the moment cost. R9-290X are hard to find at the lower prices, most are above $600 now. Many were available for $500. GTX770 will run you about $350 for a decent one.

As to EVGA, they do have the better warranty, you just need to avoid their low end reference designs. They do make high quality parts at a price premium.

MSI, ASUS, Sapphire, even Gigabyte are considered decent brands. Zotac and Powercolor and XFX are the ones most people say to avoid when it comes to graphics cards.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am going with the 4770k just because it is only 79 bucks more than the 4670k at the MC here. So I figured I might as well as go with it because it's not too much more and I have the ability for hyper-threading. I know that truly is the only difference between the two. As for the video card I'm so confused on all of it. There are at least 7 different 770 780 gtxs. I just don't know which ones are the best and why they all say GTX 770's from different companies. I was going to go with MSI GeForce GTX 770 2GB but I can't find any for sale so I'm stuck trying to locate something else. :/ my brain is fried from this! VIDEO CARDS SHOULDN'T BE THIS HARD! haha. I have heard about the R9-290 but that is a bit out of my range. I would prefer 300-400 range and one that will obviously last me a few years and keep up with the games that are coming out/are out such as BF4, DayZ, etc...
