Best Wireless card for my rig.

Okay, so I only have a cheap motherboard, so I only have a PCI slot open (the other is being covered or is sitting on top of the PCIe slot, so I'm guessing that's out of the picture)

I need a fairly decent internet connection that is reliable and won't drop on me.

I'm currently using the TL-WN951N lately, and it hasn't exactly proven itself any good. It drops connection, causes everyone else to lag heavily and doesn't give a very strong connection at all.

Any recommendations for a PCI only Wireless card? Money isn't exactly important, but it has to be able to go through a few walls at around 10-15 meters and still give me a decent internet connection.

Router is the Netgear CG3101D, for those interested.

Thanks.

Also, I'd really like to know what the difference is between PCI and PCI-e in terms of wireless speed, since the PCI-e cards generally offer better speeds than standard PCI.

Yeah, but sadly Virgin is the only provider we can get around here. I don't even want to think about having to upgrade my router...
And also, although I wish for the day to come, I can't get a wired connection due to my computer being placed in an awkward location.

Problem is, every other device in my house can connect fine no matter where it is, and I'm sure it is down to the antenna (3x2Dbi) not being strong, as I moved it closer to the router and got immense download/upload speeds.
Edit: should point out, I moved it for a test and so cannot keep it where it was, and cannot move it any closer than it already is.

Actually, since your router is also your modem, you can hook a better router up to it and use it as well.

This could be an affordable option, or you could try one of these adapters:

There doesnt seem to be any consistent information on good wireless adapter cards though, and I always go wired so I don't have enough good data.

I've been thinking about this, and I thought, would a powerline adaptor solve my issue?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833704165

I mean, the only concern with this is that if my PCI card cannot get a decent connection from the router, what's to say this will help at all, even though it is wired (And I have a very old house)

That actually looks pretty neat and could be a nice solution to your problem, but the reviews are semi spotty, so you might want to read them to see the problems you could encounter, or that you might not encounter. And you could probably return it if it doesnt work to your standards, Newegg is fairly good like that.

JustFYI: Mbps is MegaBITS per second, and MBps is MegaBytes per second, you can google the conversion rate for them simply to see that actually download speeds you'd be getting with that, but it looks good. (this will be limited by whatever Mbps your company sells you)

Lol, should have remembered the difference, my teacher hammered it into me enough in college -.-

I think right now I have 200 Mbps I believe, coupled with a shoddy router.

I could just go totally overkill and get a 500Mbps adaptor, which should be more than enough, considering the adaptors will be on separate floors.
