Worth reverting to a restore point thanks to CNET's malware?

My PC is only two weeks old and I'm trying to keep it pure and clean. It used to be you would go to CNET / Download.com to get software because you knew it was the safest place and you wouldn't risk getting adware, spyware, etc. I guess times have changed, and after researching it further it seems to be well known CNET bundles in adware with their downloads now. But I haven't kept up and thought the site could still be trusted. I downloaded a flashcard program yesterday and found a bunch of trash on my PC along with it - Mobogenie, Pass-something or other that installed itself to Firefox, and a PCBackUp program in my Program Files. I ran Malware Bytes and Avast and I believe I have gotten rid of all this junk. Still, I don't think I will even know for sure.

I see Windows has made an automatic restore point January 3rd, so I am considering reverting back to that with the hope that I will be 100% completely rid my system of this malware CNET gave me. Are those kinds of programs what a system restore will aim to erase? I understand it will leave my pictures, documents, etc. alone, but I've backed them up anyway. I just don't want to do a system restore and find this Mobogenie junk has also survived. Since I downloaded it on the 5th I am assuming if I revert to the point made on the 3rd it will be like going to CNET and downloading it never even happened. Is this correct? I just don't want to mess things up worse here, not on a brand new PC.

I'm not sure if you're serious or not, a full reformat seems kind of extreme. I have some programs that I believe are limited number of installs, so I don't want to wipe the whole thing and risk not being able to re-install them again. I should add nothing seems to be odd about the computer today, so maybe I am overreacting, but if a restore is a good way to go I'd just like to do it sooner than later since the point now is only 2 days old.
