Mouse and Keyboard Input Problems

Hi guys. I have a R.A.T 7 Contagion mouse and some old HP PS/2 connector keyboard I got a little over a week ago to replace my lost wireless USB keyboard. I've been having two problems as far as input goes. First, the mouse. Holding left or right click only results in it being held by the system for four or five seconds before it acts like I let go even though I haven't. This makes it a pain to precisely copy large amounts of text without selecting the entire page. It's also takes it quite a while to show on screen when booting up on any computer, although I don't see how a mouse could affect the visibility of the actual on screen pointer; it'll also take it a minute to be able to move the pointer on screen after being plugged in again, although the left and right click seem to work fine. Secondly, with this PS/2 keyboard, I'm not able to hold Shift and use certain keys in games. Let's say I'm playing DayZ and I want to sprint diagonal left. I hold Shift + W + A (sprint diagonally left). Instead of doing that, my guy will continue to sprint forward and a beeping sound is made every few seconds. It sound somewhat like sticky keys, but I've made sure sticky keys is turned off. This happens in every game I've tested, and it seems to be like Shift is the only key that makes this happen. I don't remember what other keys make this beeping sound in-game when pressed with Shift, but there are quite a few others as well.

That looks to be it. Thanks. Sucks that this keyboard doesn't take more inputs, it's a lot better quality than my last one. And the mouse may still be under warranty, I'll look into getting it replaced or just buying a new one.

I'd like to add on that I fixed the mouse by using a different surface. Before I was using a black plastic book, and now I've switched to a white covered magazine and it's as precise as possible now. So I'm guessing Cyborg's mice don't like dark surfaces.
