Hey,
I am having a similar problem. I also recently bought a Kone XTD from roccat and in the beginning everything seamed to be working fine. I downloaded the drivers setup a profile and saved it to the mouse, the profile worked and I was happy with it because it suited all the games pretty well. However as I got battlefield 4 I encountered 2 problems, the first one being that there was a delay between me pressing the button on my mouse and my game reacting and most of the time I had to press it 4 to 5 times for it to react at all (this does not happen in any other game) The second issue was or still is, that i needed a new keybinding setup for bf4 since when i created the other one it was mostly for simple fps games. This is why I went into the editor created a profile and klicked apply to set the profile to my mouse, however even after making new profiles and trying to load them onto the mouse, reseting everything in the drivers to default, updating and even reinstalling the drivers, the mouse continues to keep the first profile I ever loaded onto it. It is really starting to annoy me and I hope someone has a solution for this and your problem.
As for the keys not reacting when you press them, it sounds like it could possibly be a defect--especially if it works after several attempts. In regards to the profiles not switching correctly, this happens to me if i just select a different profile (clicking the tab for profile 3 for example) and hitting apply. I have to hit the WP button next to whichever profile I want to switch to, then hit apply. That makes it your new default windows profile and will solve your issue in BF. You still have to go into the button assignment menu in the Battlefield menu and double-check to make sure the buttons there match your profile as well.
The best way to avoid having to create new profiles for each game is to just program the buttons on the mouse to random-ish keys on the keyboard that would never conflict with any in game buttons. For instance, I use the two buttons on the side of the mouse and the left/right click of the mouse wheel in every game. Here is my profile:
Side button 1---> ;
Side button 2---> ,
Left-click scroll wheel---> "
Right-click scroll wheel---> /
They'll never conflict with any other game's button layouts and you can change them in the game menu to do whatever you want without having to reassign other buttons or create a totally new profile through Roccat. I only have one other profile that I sometimes use, and that one just replaces one of the side buttons with the Easy Shift function. Hope some of this was helpful, or at the very least, made sense
