I'm planning on building a new computer from scratch, and I needed some advice on picking out a motherboard. I wanted to go with an i7-4770k for my CPU and I was going to put this all in a massive case like the Corsair 900D. I would like to go with something higher-end so that as I get into overclocking more I will have more options to tinker with as I go, and price shouldn't be much of an issue.

A list of features I'd like:
- 3 way SLI capable. I'll probably start with a single card and work up from there as time goes on.
- Simple BIOS interface for someone who isn't as familiar with overclocking. I'm running a small overclock on my current PC so I'm not completely clueless.
- DDR3-2133 compatible.
- Built in WiFi, Thunderbolt capable, and RAID capable would be a plus.

I realize that what I'm asking for is probably overkill, especially considering my experience level. But your recommendations would be very much appreciated!

When I at first got the mobo, I had problems with attaching the Intel stock cooler but my conclusion was that the screws on the cooler was kinda short. But a week later I got a Corsair H100i and I installed it without any difficulties. I don't think you will have problems with installing your Noctua though. You could probably have problems fitting it in the case while it is quite big.

My other suggestion would be the Asus Sabertooth Z87...

I would prefer the MSI MPOWER Z87. Great for OC beginners. I have one and it is really good. You will also be guided through your OC all the time with good explanations etc. :)

Thanks dardy77! I looked at a few reviews for the board and a couple mention that installing a CPU cooler with that board is cramped, which is somewhat disheartening since I was planning on getting the Noctura NH-D14 cooler. Did you have any issues with this?

Also, any other suggestions?

Why not go for water cooling as you want to do overclocking. I know that the price is higher but as you go for high quality components like the 4770k, I think you should consider water cooling actually :)

My other suggestion would be the Asus Sabertooth Z87. I personally don't have any experiences from it, but my a friend of mine got it and he hasn't got any complaints. Nice overclocking capabilities and good thermal protection etc. Though I don't think it has 3 way SLI but I really wonder why you want to have it anyways. If you dont plan to get a really big case, 3 way SLI would be a burden to your overall temperatures while it blocks airflow and holds high temperatures.
