My old hdd is running windows 7 32 bit. I'm planning to buy a ssd and installing windows 7 64 bit. I want to use my old hdd as the main storage, but how would I accomplish that since I can't use any applications, but I want to keep some of the files

Solution
1. Gather all your application install files and disks
2. Gather ALL username/passwords/log in info, and any serial numbers for your applications
3. Copy ALL of your personal data to somewhere else.

Have #2 and 3 completely off line while you do this

4. Disconnect all other drives
5. Connect the SSD
6. Set the boot order to DVD first
7. Boot, and install Win 7 64bit to the SSD
8. Once done, change the boot order to SSD, then DVD
9. Do all the upgrades that Windows wants

Now you can consider to reconnect the old HDD, and install your applications. Some/most on the SSD, maybe some on the HDD.
And now you can copy back all your personal documents, etc.

Move on and enjoy.
