I am building my first pc, and I am trying to post, but when I try to put in the 24 pin connector it wont fit. It'll go about 1/2 3/4 and won't go anymore. I tried testing the psu by jumping the green and black cables together but the fan only spins for about a second before cutting off. Does this mean my psu is faulty, or is it the motherboard?

More about : pin connector wont fit

Should be a slight protrusion on the enclosure of the mobo for the 24 pin connector, the PSU cable generally has like a clip on the 24 pin which is to slip over that protrusion, this let's you know it's oriented correctly then should fit in

It fits all the way up until the middle and I have to force it. I looked on the sides of the connectors and nothing appears to be out of shape. I'm just very confused because it should just fit, right?

Yes, may take a little pressure to get it over that lip to click in

Like I watched a tutorial on Newegg, some from linus, and countless others. This is a different pressure. It won't just glide in, in a sense. It will not move.

Can check the pins and the individual sockets to ensure none out of line or damaged

Should fit and work unless a flaw in the plastic molding

Probably just going to return it, any good 650w psu'd you'd recommend, I heard seasonic is reliable.

Seasonic is the best out there, generally always my first manufacturer to look at when planning a build

I was thinking about getting the X or G series 650w psu, but what would you recommend?

The 650 X will run about any single GPU card rig you want to build short of a 6990, 7990 or a GTX 590
