Skyrim is pretty old, a R9 270 should do pretty well with all the mods (although I'm not certain as I have never ran so many mods)

Instead of just "2gb is not enough" maybe suggest what you think might be better, and a link to where it is in stock?

I would say 2GB isn't enough.
I run into 2048MB just in a dungeon, and that is with all my textures optimized, much more when I'm back in Skyrim open area.

ENB will draw a lot of GPU power when you start to use occlusion and some of the other more heavy effects.

The games age has nothing to say when it comes to texture mods.
Original textures are at 256 to 512, the 3 official HD packs replaces some with 2048 textures, and a lot of mods can add 4k and 8k versions.

R9 280x or R9 290 for even more VRAM? Where those are in the stock is up to the OP to find out.

I just replaced a GTX660 with the 280x, kinda wish I had bought the 290 instead, since you easy can fill it's 4GB with textures.
I did keep everything below at max 2k textures as much as possible and did run an optimization with SMCO afterwards.
So 4k to 8k textures will require somewhat more.

Although, I would miss some of the Vivid Landscape textures (I do not use the original HD packs either, pointless and a waste to load them, since I have every single texture replaced by mods anyway).

Just got a GTX770 4GB today, it handles ENB a lot better than the R9 280x @ 2560x1440, even the 2GB does @ 1680x1050 as long as you watch out for the size and amount of textures you feed it with.
I run with 431+ mods, RCRN AE and a ENB made for it, getting 40-60FPS with the GTX770 4GB (v-sync enabled).

The game doesn't care, runs fine with either of them, ENB on the other hand does run better on Nvidia.

That is not even possible, Skyrim has a limit of 3.1GB.

It does not matter if it is Chuck Norris edition, skyrim itself has a limit of 3.1 gig since its 32 bit it cant go over that period. THis is what the developers and even the guy that made RealVision ENB said.

I don't want to make some sort of battle here, but as I was googling for best settings for a crossfire setup - I ended up here... And saw someone denying the pure art of what ENB developer has made for Skyrim.
The 3.1 GB limit you are talking about, is about the RAM, not VRAM. This was fixed around ENB version 0.160 or something, with ENBoost. Well I'm no programmer, so I don't know exactly how - but it's fixed. Textures aren't allocated as much into the main memory, hence with a 45GB Skyrim installation as I have, I only use about 2-2.5 GB RAM.
Furthermore a guy called Sheson came up with a fix for helping Skyrim's engine load huge chunks of information and textures, by raising the size of each "block" that the Skyrim's memory allocation is divided into.
Today we have no ILS because of filled up RAM, no crashes or freezes from the filled up blocks. And that is mostly thanks to the Bruce Norris version of programming, Boris, the developer of ENB.
Please don't be ignorant and rely on 4 months old information of a game that's constantly in development.

Ram, what are you talking about? RAM is not an issue with Skyrim and many mods it is the VRAM that has a limit, you can not expect a game to have 75839457348920573429058743890562340673429067348905623479056GB of usable VRAM. I am just saying what Bethesda has said, but pffffffft who cares what they say its not like they made the game or anything.

NO YOU'RE WRONG, STOP GIVING PEOPLE WRONG INFO DUMB ASS. THE 3.1 GIG RAM LIMIT IS BEFORE SSME PATCH OR SKSE. THERE'S NO MORE 32BIT LIMITATION ON THE RAM on skyrim. REALVISION ENB CREATOR NEVER SAID THAT AND IF HE DID THAN SHOW IT I WILL GO ON NEXUS AND CALL HIM OUT. AS FOR THE VRAM IF YOU RUN ENBOOST, YOU CAN EDIT THE ENBLOCAL TO COMPRESS THE RENDERING TEXTURES TO LIMIT DOWN HOW MUCH VRAM IT USES AND THE UP SIDE IS NO TEXTURES QUALITY LOST. There was never a VRAM limit, im on GTX titan black and my VRAM suage is between 5.2 to 5.5gig.

This dumb ass got confuse with the 32bit 3.1gig limit RAM with VRAM. Which not even a problem anymore after SSME and SKSE.
