I just built my pc for a $800 budget. Specs are cm haf 922- i5 3570k- corsair 8 GB ram- msi z77a g43 mobo- asus drive- 1tb space- and 500w pcu. No video card. No CPU cooler. I love it but I'm just wondering, was there any other changes in the build that I could have made to make it a good gaming pc for $800? I feel like my pc is just skin and bones.

depends; did you build it sans GPU and going with integrated with the plan to get one much later? if you had no plan to get a GPU; did you only plan to use it to play old games/low demanding games/ play at the lowest setting? if so; you could've done much worse. personally it ain't all that bad, though if you wanted to go with integrated GPUs there's AMD's APUs; an A10 build would've been well below your budget. or maybe even an AMD FX + mid-range GPU.

i reckon the "skin & bones" feel comes from the fact that you have too little components all inside a big case.

not bad. Just get a video card for around $250 and you should be good to game.

you really just have to add a video card. otherwise gaming isnt an option. if you wanted to game you should have budgeded in a video card and gone for a lower end cpu and motherboard. not to mention K edition cpu's are only good for overclocking, so total waste if you dont OC, and there would be no point in OCing without a decent video card anyway.

Do you guys recommend I overclock and how much? And would I need a CPU cooler and what kind do you recommend? I plan on getting the gtx 760. Is that a good enough gpu? I want to be able to play fallout new vegas. Rust. Chivalry medieval warfare and garrys mod. And mc. Stuff like that. Should I take anything into consideration about requirements or anything like that?

getting a third party cpu cooler is highly recommended when OCing. the Hyper 212 EVO is highly recommended.

the 760 is a good choice for ~$250.

I agree a GTX 760 is an excellent choice for 1080p gaming.

pretty pointless overclocking the cpu with a mid range gpu, will be gpu bottlenecked. would just go whatever cooler is cheapest.

I am not a big fan of BIG FAN cpu coolers. They are big, heavy, space consuming, and feel like they stress the motherboard. I prefer more spacious and light weight options like the Corsair H60.
