Unable to boot from back up

The hard drive crashed on my Win 7 Pro (home built) system. I'd previously cloned the hard drive; so I removed the bad drive and installed the back up. However, I am unable to boot from it; and I get a message telling me to "Reboot and select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and select any key". I saw a similar situation in another forum, but it had to do with both (good and bad)drives connected in the system. Could my problem still be related to the MBR?

(Apologies if this reposted: on first attempt I was prompted to login and when I did, I didn't see the post.)

Hi, and thanks for your response!
Yes, I see the HD in BIOS and I did set it to boot from it.
If it is as you suggest, a boot manager problem, how can I tell and how do I resolve?

Hi again... I tried your suggestion but I got an error message saying that t failed to copy the required files. So, I went back and chose another option to repair the installation and apparently it has worked. Apparently the partition table was corrupted and it was repaired. It rebooted and I chose the Safe Mode option, then I rebooted again normally to complete there repair. Right now I'm doing a routine boot scan. If it wasn't for your suggestion to use the boot disk, I wouldn't be here now! Can't believe I was so dense! lol)
Thank You & All the Best for the New Year!
