As the title says, I'm debating whether or not to build my own apple computer. As a gamer, I am already in the market to build my own rig. But I am also someone who started primarily on a Apple OS. What I mean by that is I collected my 300 GB music, movie and Television library all on an Apple OS and to me iTunes and Windows 8 do not work well together at all. I have audio sync issues with movies, and other times the audio and video will completely cut out. I do not want to buy a new apple laptop for 1400 dollars when it clearly costs 600 dollars at max. If I can build one for 700 dollars, I'd be quite happy.

The primary uses of my Hackintosh is for theater purposes and to video and photo edit. From what I have come to understand, an intel based system is the best method for a Hackintosh. So far the parts include:

i5 4430 Quad-core 3.0Ghz $180
ASUS GTX 650Ti $150
Coolermaster HSF 212EVO $34
MSI H87 $103
8 Gb Crucial Ballistix DDR3 1600 $74
Seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD $63
Rosewill Capstone 750w $109
NZXT Tempest 210 $50
total is 763 without peripherals and monitor. I do plan on getting the magic trackpad, wireless apple keyboard, and a nice ASUS monitor. So I guess the amount is at least 950

My question is are these parts compatible to an Apple OS, and will these parts work well enough for my needs. Lastly if any of these parts can be replaced by any better, cheaper parts, it would be great if you can help me save money by listing them.

Thank you for your help and Happy, late, New Year!

Hey man, welcome to the Hackintosh club ;D

CPU: Almost all intel based CPU's are fully Mac compatible (3rd gen+) My suggestion is a beefy i7-3770k, great for videos!
Mobo: Tough one. My recommendation is either the Gigabyte GA-z77X-UD3H or UD5H. OOB compatible
GPU: This depends: are you going to be using GPU intensive programs like DaVinci or After Effects? If so, I'd suggest a beefier card...
RAM: 16GB is a bare minimum for editing higher end footage. 8GB will work, but be slow. Kingston HyperX is some of the best editing RAM money can buy.
HDD: GO SSD. SERIOUSLY. They're more costly but WAYYY FASTER. Otherwise, if you're tight for money, that will be fine.
PSU: VERY nice psu. Full modular is better but still! :)
Case: Not a huge...

Case: Not a huge fan. If you're stuck for money Corsair makes some REALLY nice cheap cases with great cable management.

OSX is tough to work with, but if you get the right parts you should be good. My suggestion would be a beefier GPU/CPU, and a little more RAM!

Cheers!
