how can i use crossover cable to windows 98 software?

compaq presario seireis 5000 desktop
system windows 98
no wifi adapter
has phone port
the ethernet port very small.

the ethernert chord doesnt fit into ethernet port.
it was use dor dail upservice only.

using clear internet modem. wi-fi
cannot connect desktop to inernet

if upgrade flat screen monitor to watch youtube, support windows 98?
what type of wireless router and wireless adapter would be good compaq presario 5000 series?

That's not an ethernet port. That's an RJ-11 phone port on a modem. Most modem cards had 2 ports. One for the wall cable, the other out to the telephone.

Your only hope is:

1. to find a USB WiFI adapter with Windows 98 support and drivers
2. Hope your motherboard and Windows 98 actually support USB. Widespread USB support did not come into being until Win98SE.
