Computer has been shutting down while playing games, This started about a week ago I have no idea what the problem could be, but i started off with, CPUID HWMonitor so i could see how hot my CPU & GPU were running while playing games, and also ran a virus scan.

Computer Specs:
AMD FX 6300 Six-Core Processor
4Gigs Ram
Geforce GTX 550 Ti
625W PSU CoolerMaster Extreme2

The temperatures while idling are,
30c-40c CPU (31c While making this post)
50c-60c GPU (55c While making this post)

The temperatures while ingame are,
50c-60c CPU(58cMax after an hour of gameplay)
70c-80c GPU(83cMax after an hour of gameplay)

The computer will randomly just shut down while playing a game, no BOSD or Restart, just straight shutdown.
Thanks for helping.

Hi nubek22,

You are correct. Your current temps are relatively close to the max, so in most cases you are hitting the max and the motherboard goes into thermal shutdown to prevent damage to the CPU.

What I would recommend before looking at the PSU is definitely getting a aftermarket cooler to bring the temps down to a lower temp.

You can have a look at something like the Cooler Master Hyper series of CPU Coolers. They are relatively inexpensive, but really works quite well. (I'm using one myself)

Hi nubek22,

Your GPU temps are fine, it might be that your computer is going in to a thermal shutdown.

Can you maybe have a look in your BIOS settings to see what your CPU shutdown temp is? It might be that it is set to 60/65, so your motherboard might be shutting down your PC.

Have you got stock cooling or do you have an aftermarket cooler?

Hope this helps,
Fred

I think the cheapest solution would be to buy an aftermarket cooler, i read that the AMD-FX Series only have a max temp of around 63c, and 58c seems pretty close to that max, please respond with thoughts.
Thanks.
