My Netgear modem router DGN2200 can't reconnect to Internet automatically after successful setup and installation and power off and on from the device switch.Same thing happens by unplugging and plugging again.I have always to connect manually everytime i power on the device, which always goes successfully.I did power cycle many times but didn't seem to work.Any idea of what happens?

Try this: Unplug your router, then unplug your cable modem. Wait about 30 seconds then power up your modem first and wait until all the lights come on (takes about 2 to 3 minutes). Then power up your router.

Hi and thanks for the reply. As i mentioned before i only use one device,no additional modem.I have already tried many times full power cycles by unplugging modem first and computer after, then plugging again computer first and modem after, but it didn't work.Everytime i was waiting from 1 to 2 minutes during each plug and unplug

I think your router lost the username and password information required by your ISP on the WAN side.

On your computer open up the browser and type http://192.168.0.1. Since you reset the modem/router your default username should be “admin” and password being “password”. Then run the setup wizard. You have to enter the login name and password provided by your ISP for you to connect and obtain an external IP address. You have to call them for that information.

I must mention that i have tried too many things to solve the problem, before i decide to post here. One of them is what you suggested before.I got the username and password from my ISP,i run the setup wizard,i established the connection,i got the success page for the device installation and opened the netgear congratulations page.So i have green Internet led and Internet access.Until here everything ok.But when i power off the router and on again, the Internet led is red and i haven't Internet access.I have to do again the installation, running the setup wizard and everything goes ok,as the first time, except that i have to do this everytime i power off and on the router. So the problem is that the router can't be reconnected automatically, after the first setup, whenever i power it off and on again. Two more things: 1. The device i talk about,is the third one i got from my local support.I mean after having exactly the same problem with the first device, took it back and got a replacement model, had the same problem, took it back and got the third one with also the same problem.Meaning i have tried three devices of the same model, but still nothing. 2. Everytime i finish the installation and setup of the device, which are successful as i mentioned, and power off and on the router again, the Internet led is red(no connection) although the settings and the values i put doing the router configuration, appear normally in all the router interface pages

I have already done the firmware upgrade on the router but the problem remains.Funny thing is that at the firmware release note for that last upgrade,Netgear says that one of the bugs that this upgrade fixes, is exactly the one that causes my problem.Though the result is a big nothing. So i think to follow the other part of your solution and get a completely different model router.Anyway thank you for your replies and suggestions.I only suggest to everyone to stay far away from that particular model or from Netgear in general, otherwise be very careful of the Netgear device that you buy
