Both panels will be a great monitor for gaming, but the ASUS has 5ms response time, where as the Dell has a 6ms response time. Naturally would have to say the ASUS will be a better advantage for a gamer. Also the ASUS has a matte screen so this will result in less glare giving you less distractions and reflection on the display. The Dell has a glossy display which some people prefer because the glossy displays can sometimes give you richer colors and deeper blacks, but you will have to deal with reflections :(  .

Conclusion : ( ASUS - "5ms Response Time" + "Anti-glare" + "IPS" ) vs ( DELL - "6ms Response Time" + "Glossy" + "TN" )
Hope this explains more and helps you on your future monitor purchase. :)

If this was your choice, which one would you get?

The ASUS is the obvious choice with its IPS display and exceptional response time, and if you have a lot of light in your room you will enjoy the anti-glare coated screen the ASUS provides you with. :)  . The Dell is far inferior to the ASUS monitor.

I use a 23" Samsung [120Hz] monitor for a lot of my games such as CS:GO, BF4, and DayZ. 23" is a great viewing size I feel because you use very little eye movement to see everything around you and can easily spot your enemy before they spot you 70% of the time.

Okay, my mistake, but IPS is still superior to VA panels. VAs are prone to ghosting and never heard of any PC gamers ever using VA for hardcore gaming, probably a really bad idea, I'd rather have TN over VA for gaming honestly.

I only specialize in monitors, you may want to start a new thread on PC hardware/peripherals. BTW :)  I found a video comparing the Dell VA panel vs the ASUS featuring an IPS panel and you can clearly note that the ASUS IPS has much more rich colors and deeper blacks on the left. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT81CBx27-4

If you don't already own an SSD, you're missing out. I boot my PC in 7 seconds.
