Amazon has just informed me that they will not be stocking third-party R9 290's

I am a little puzzled by this. Amazon UK do not list any of the non reference r9 290s, even for pre order. I emailed them asking when they expected stock to come in. This is the reply I got:

Hello David,

I have had an update regarding the Graphics Cards.

We currently do not expect to sell the non reference models.

I know this is not exactly a helpful update.

The only suggestion is to check our third party Marketplace sellers.

They may sell the items you are looking for

I hope this helps, we hope to see you again soon

Warmest regards,
Lisa

Anyone else think this is a bit odd considering that they sell other AMD noN-reference cards and all of the Nvidia 780 GPUs

The original email and reply is available on my business Facebook page (sorry I don't have an account with imageshack)

Not as odd as it seems. The 290's & 290x's have been very hot selling cards (bitcoiners & litecoin miners snap em up as soon as they arrive), and it's possible Amazon UK didn't order soon enough and fell way down on the ship list, and they know they won't be seeing Inv anytime soon, and are being honest with you.

So, check SCAN, Ebuyer, Aria, etc.

It's a pain because I am an Amazon prime member so I prefer to buy from them. A lot of people say good things about over clockers.co.uk, but they charge the postage. It's only £10 but it just seems annoying

£10 is significant - I'd be upset too.
