Good evening people. I've got a question regarding my "entry-level" PSU, a Corsair CX600.

It's 80+ bronze certified at 600 watts and i'm currently using a FX-8350 + GTX 660 for it. Both of these are overclocked and the system is draining around 380w when gaming.

As i'll upgrade to a R9 290 Windorce 3x today i am wondering if this PSU and 600w will be enough to run it? My FX-8350 is at 4.8ghz 1.45 volt, I will be overclocking the R9 290 after i've installed and tested it. (Obviously I'll be playing lot's of games here ^^)

I know it will work but will it be enough to keep the system going without bottlenecking it?

Yes it is enough, the only question is how long will it last on high loads being a budget unit with inferior capacitors.

"How long it will last"?

Do you mean that if i use hardware that drains more it will put more load on the PSU and could possibly kill it?

Also if I'm getting a new PSU i've thought about this one:

It's not to expensive where i live.

There have been example of the CX dying prematurely when run on high loads. In your case you should be fine if you do not do a lot of stress testing here OC i7 and OC 290 http://www.anandtech.com/show/7601/sapphire-radeon-r9-2... power numbers at the bottom of the page.
The XFX is a much better PSU.

Thanks! One last question though, if i want to go crossfire in the future with this GPU, should i the 850w version of this PSU instead? It's barely 15$ more.

No question it is worth it if you are planning CF.

Corsair is a decent budget psu. It does have the connectors you need.
Under load, it will have to work closer to it's max capacity.
That will cause the cooling fan to spin up and the psu to become less efficient.
Yes, longevity might be impacted, but I would not worry too much about that.

Well, I'm experiencing some micro stuttering and i noticed that my system peaked at 540w when playing games. My FPS was pretty unstable and i'll be getting a new PSU today.

As for the GPU it hit 83c under unigine heaven after 10 minutes, when playing games i barely hit 60c which is very nice! I do love this card. Will be looking forward to overclocking this beast later today.
