I have a new ssd drive for a laptop, but the Windows 7 operating system is on a recovery partition on the old hard drive, and there are no recovery discs, How do I get the operating system onto my new disc please? I know I can make a system image, but would that just install onto a new disc? Presumably it would need activating. Or do I just have to send off for recovery discs? Thanks.

Solution
If your new ssd is large enough to hold the contents of your current "C" drive, then your simple solution is to clone your current drive to the new ssd.
If the ssd is Samsung, their Samsung magician utility will do that.
If the ssd is intel, their ssd migration tool will do that.
Acronis true image has a clone utility for others.
