I recently moved and had to buy a new router. I have an older computer that runs specialized software for a piece of equipment. It runs windows XP service pack 2. When I setup last night
When I go into the wireless connection menu it shows me the router and it has a great signal however, when I try to put in the network key & password it gives me an error.

I think I am not putting in the correct data key and encryption version.

I have setup other wireless networks and have never had any trouble.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Using a wired connection, open a web browser and go to http://www.routerlogin.net/
Default login is:

Username: admin
Password: password

This is your router's configuration utility.
Go into the wireless settings and change encryption type to WEP if it's available.
(On the latest router's, WEP has been dropped altogether in favour of WPA & WPA2).

You may then have to create your own WEP key. You can do that here: http://www.yellowpipe.com/yis/tools/WEP_key/

When done, click "Apply" or "Save"
Now write down the WEP key exactly as you see it, remembering that it is case-sensitive
Now close the web browser.

Now go to your XP computer and try connecting it to your wireless router using that WEP key.
