hi guys, i apologise if this is in the wrong place- couldn't find where to put it.
to the point, i bought half of a computer- the case, cpu, ram, mobo, hard drive and psu. i bought these because the price went down after christmas and made them much cheaper, however i didn't have enough to buy a gpu or os, although i managed to pick up a cheap rubbish graphics card (HM550L GeCube ATi Radeon X550 128MB PCI-e Graphics Card) so that i could enter the bios and make sure everything was working, so when i could afford the gpu i wanted, i could simply switch it out and play all my fave games. however it turns out that the graphics card doesn't fit as the rail that connects to the case is too short. i have built the rest of the computer and plugged it all in- the bulb on the mobo lights up when plugged in and i have no reason to believe that anything is broken or that there are any problems with the build,

i simply want to know if the computer will be okay to sit and wait for my graphics card to arrive (about a month)?

and should i try and bend the rail so that the graphics card can fit or is this too dangerous?

it is my first build and if you would like i could post my specs.

any answer will be much appreciated.

Assuming that this is the card you purchased, it's a half-height/low-profile graphics card. Theoretically, you could bend the tab that affixes the card to the case, so the card fits, but you do this at your own risk and probably voids any chance of a return.

I'd say your best bet would be to just return the card and purchase another (full-height) filler card to test your system (or better yet, just borrow a friend's card).

So which graphics card doesnt fit, the cheapo one you bought or the new one you want to buy?
And when you say it doesn't fit the rails, do you mean the ones on the back of the case where the ports on the card stick out to connect your cables? it would be helpful to know which case you have for that.
