Newegg Combo deal!

Yes, a good deal for a destop computer OR a budget gamer. The CPU isn't outdated, its low end. There is a difference.

Its about as good a setup as you will find at that price point. If you want more, you will have to spend more.

APU's low end for gaming. If the guy is looking at a $300 setup, odds are he will not be getting a 4670 and a 780 anytime in the near future.

The LEPA PSU's are usually pretty decent. That particular model is a channel well design. I would go with a better unit, but given the total package, you could do a lot worse.

VERY low end - they're on par with low end dual core Pentiums. LEPA PSUs aren't bad but there's far better you can get for the price. The case is still junk though, I stand by that claim.

A 5800k is on par with a dual core pentium? Maybe as a gaming part with a dedicated GPU, but the 5800k will easily handle the pentium running their respective IGP's, if faster overall, and is unlocked. Don't think your giving it enough credit.

Well there's areas where the AMD is better, and that's mainly integrated graphics. But if you're going to add on a GPU later, it makes that a moot point: http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/322/AMD_A10-Series_A10-5800K_vs_Intel_Pentium_Dual-Core_G2120.html

If you look at that chart, processor wise they're about neck and neck. If you want to play basic games they're fine but if you want to play BF4 on high settings or Civ V with massive maps? You're pretty much SOL there.

My real question is that if it's worth upgrading. The cpu isn't the greatest and i'm not a huge fan of micro cases/motherboards, so it really isn't something i would normally go for but at $299 for a PC now that I could slowly buy the upgrades later to make it better is my question or just wait for longer and save up.

G-unit, your misunderstanding the meaning of your link. It shows a clear advantage to the 5800k. And that's before overclocking. Four cores become loaded a lot fast than 6 or 8. Single threaded performance doesn't help intel as much as this level as it does with the i5 and I7.
