Question about the Hyper 212 cooler

Solution

I have the 212 PLUS, attached to an i5-3570k. Under 100% Prime95 load, it is as close to silent as I can imagine.
To actually hear it under full load, I have to take the side panel off, climb under my desk, and stick my ear right next to it to actually hear that fan.

Your ears may be different.

The EVO might. But the other better models of the large air coolers are equally as good or slightly better), but more expensive. The PLUS and EVO are probably the best price/performance ratio.

With one of the other ones, you might get 2% better performance, but at twice the price.

Your ears are fine. Mine is silent too, and I have two fans on mine, both at 100% power...because why not...it's silent.

TBH i was really only wanting to spend 20$ on a Heatsink fan. I was looking at the rosewill one for a good price

Give up a couple of Cokes, a bag of chips, and a bagel or two.

Not specifically, but the RCX-Z1 appears to be an old design. Reviewed by FrostyTech in Feb 2007

Ah, yes, you are right. I checked the Evo version on that. The evo version would be worth the extra $$ over the plus anyway.
