Hallo, need help just bought a new 500 watt power supply since thats what is required yo run a gtx 260 graphics card, but the psu on has a 4+4pin and 6pin, on the box and specs online it says it has a 4+4 and 6 pi plus a6+2 pin the box shows this but psu only has a 4+4 and 6pin no 6+2 or and form of plus 2 pin, wtf the gtx 260 needs 12pins. I checked the thermaltake 550watt and it says it has a6+2 and 6 pin but I opened it in the shop and it has no 6+2 the dude at the shop also was perplexed, I checked and those psu are all global maybe its a south african thing but help me please, some1 told me I must use a 6pin male to 2×6 pin female or 6pin male to 8 pin female connection, im a noob hope you could follow.

the 4+4 pin is for the motherboard, not the video card. What is the make & model of your PSU? If it is modular or semi-modular, it should come with a box of additional cables, one of which should be an additional 6 pin or 6+2 pin.

Thanks look I will post a link to psu now now, its a thermaltake, the thermaltake psu calculator calculate that I nedd 294 watt with the gtx260 in my rig and they recommended a psu but their recommend psu only has a 6.2pin pci for graphics but gtx 260 has 12 pins. I am so frustrated. I found a connecter that is made for vga pci thing it takes two 4pins of the ide conectors and makes it a 6 pin the man at the I.t shop says it what I need but dont make sense, will it work?

No, those connectors will provide the same voltage than the 6pin pci-e connectors (12v - yellow wire). The red wire (5v) won't be connected. The worst that could happen is that your PSU won't be able to power your GPU using the adapter, but it should work.

Edit: if possible, use 2 molex connectors that are on separate wires on your PSU, with nothing else connected to those wires. That way you will have the maximum power available for the GPU.
