I've got a pretty new system with a "Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz LGA 1150 84W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics BX80646I74770K"

I have 2 displays of 1080 resolution.
My concern is that if I use the iGPU then I could cause more demand, heat and affect the longevity of the processor.

I'm thinking I should get an external vid card, like this one for only $35 to be safe - EVGA GeForce 8400 GS 1 GB DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 DVI/HDMI/VGA Graphics Card, 01G-P3-1302-LR

Thoughts?

Thanks!!!

For just desktop use the integrated graphics is fine. A better heatsink wouldn't be bad idea if you are concerned with heat.

Intel HD4600 is much faster then an 8400GS. Your money would be better spent getting something like a modern GT620, GT630, or GT640 for $40-60, though again, these would be somewhat comparable to what is on the chip.
Hi,
For gaming forget about it.

I have 2 displays of 1080 resolution.

I recommend at least a 650 ti boost if you can get a hand on one. Even if you are not gaming, you would have better GPU processing, for video, editing and such.

The geforce 8400 gs is pretty outdated, you might want to consider a geforce 210 at least.
