im running on an AMD RADEON HD 7870, with a 8320 cpu. And whenever im on a minecraft server, im lagging pretty bad, i play single player, and its a bit better, running at around 100 FPS with a few lag spikes, but online is 50-60 FPS, then it will kinda freeze, and drop framerate, and its kind of annoying. I mean, this graphics card is pretty good, is there a solution to make minecraft (or other games) run faster. I got this computer yesturday, and the only game i've played was minecraft so far, so i haven't tested any other games. Do you think it could be because the computer is used??

minecraft is possibly the worst game you could play to test a computers potential because of how badly its optimized, surprisingly a lower end computer would run it better then yours due to the single core optimization, however the way your describing it sounds like server lag...how many player are in the server and how big is the server it could also be bad internet connection and to boost performance download optifine

im using 64-bit operation system, with 8GB of RAM. i'm using 64-bit java. Could this be because its the servers problem or minecrafts problem? Or is this my pc's problem? Also, do you guys think overclocking my GPU would help?

overclocking your gpu will make no difference what so ever trust me dont do it, minecraft is more cpu/ram based. the specs of your computer make me think its a server based problem, is it locally run or is it run on a huge server ?

Did you try doing what I said about giving more RAM to Minecraft?

Its a large server. :p 300 players or over. Also i lag a bit less on servers with 80 people or so. Its still quite a bit laggy though. You know what im thinking? I think its an OpenGL problem. My old laptop could support DirectX but Not OpenGL very well.. So i was put down to about 15-20 FPS on Minecraft on my old laptop. I dont get it though... i can play fine on single player, so im kinda thinking its an OpenGL problem.. but at the same time, not really..
