Hi guys, this is the task I would love to perform.
I have a work laptop with a very small ssd hdd. When I am at work I attach my laptop to a docking station. There I would have an external 3tb hdd where I have all my personal files and folders (photos, videos, documents etc.). During the day it happens I make modification on some of those files (new photos, editing, documents etc).
Then I take my laptop and go back home leaving the external at work.
At home I have another 3tb hdd. When I attack this other external hdd I would love the modifies I did or new files I created at work to be replicated on this home external hdd and vice versa.
So I need those two drives to be synched without connecting them at the same time.
Synching should be made in two ways probably:
- keeping track of modification and creation on my laptop (but only changes, I don't want all the files to be stored on my laptop! When the changes I synched this "working" folder sould be empty )
- keeping track of modification as above on some cloud storage like dropbox or similar.
I'm desperately trying to find a software that can easily handle that.
Do you have any idea?

With just two plain old external drives and nothing to act as an intermediary then nope. I'm not sure if the 'Cloud' edition of some externals can do this or not but it might be worth investigating.

I would suggest adding a NAS at home and attaching the extenal 3tb to it as a backup drive.
When at work sink the external from the nas to pick up new files then before you leave sync to the nas.
When you get home connect to the nas and enjoy your up to date files.
The NAS can automatically backup to the home 3TB overnight.

If you want work and home to sync up without you doing anything, like during your drive home, then you will need to have more intelligence at both ends, such as two NAS's.

Well but the intermediary should be the laptop itself! The only problem is that it shouldn't be an exact replica of the two external usb but contains just the difference it has to synchronize everytime.
I'm really starting to think there isn't any real solution and the best one is to buy a caddy for a second hdd to use in my laptop instead of the dvd and then backup it on one of the two external hdd.
