Hey guys, my p8p67 deluxe mb died and im planing on buying a z77 board. The thing is that i was using a marvell raid 0 on my p8p67 and i have some date on it that i would like to save. The raid controllers on a z77 assus board is ASmedia and intel. My question is: Will my raid 0 work under the new controllers OR i will have to reconfigure the raid under the new controller and use date recovery software ?
Your assistance will be much appreciated !

If you insist on continuing to use RAID 0, I strongly recommend backups. Also, I'd recommend getting an add in RAID card. This way if you upgrade motherboards again, you can just transplant the raid controller and all will be well.

It is very likely that your RAID0 array will NOT work on a new mobo with different HDD controller chips and BIOS software. There is no "standard" way to do RAID. This is one reason why many of us say that users of RAID0 need to "get religion" about the absolute necessity of regular backups!

Since your new mobo is UNlikely to be able to read the two HDD's, no common data recovery software will be able to help you.

What you really need is software specifically designed to do recovery from a RAID0 disk pair from an unspecified controller system. It can be a tricky job, but there is such software available - some of it to run under a Linux OS. If you're lucky, maybe someone here has experience doing that, but it's not me.

Thanks for your feedback !
I guess i will make my life easier and get a z77 mb that uses the exact same marvell raid controller. ( Asrock z77 oc formula perhaps,If any of you have experience with this mb share it below)
Do you think different bios will affect it anyhow Or should I stick with an assus mb ?

Only one way to find out. I'd rate your chances at about 50:50 of a different m/b with the same controller recognizing your array. Raid-0 arrays are fragile; that's why you always keep good backups of any important data on such an array.

I will order a mb with the same controller today and I will let you know if it worked or not. 50/50 is a decent chance haha more by 1% than the chance to win in the casinos roulette :p
