SATA Ports for SSD Caching and USB QuickGate

Hello folks.

I have an ASUS P8Z77-WS, and on the board are 2 SATA 6Gb ports on the ASMedia controller that are labelled for SSD Caching. So here's my question...which is 2-fold.

1) Are those ports STRICTLY for SSD Caching, or can I use them to run an SSD as Boot, or Mechanical drives?
2) Can I create a partition on the SSD to be used JUST for Caching and use the remainder for Boot?

Second question deals with USB QuickGate, a feature of this board.

1) Can this USB QuickGate be used for ANY USB drive? Or is it specific types of applications or files? I understand the QuickGate is a security feature to essentially keep a drive where someone can't get to it.

2) If yes to #1, can I put a USB drive with Windows Recovery data on it, or a second OS like a Linux Distribution?

This is becoming a bit of a priority, and I don't wanna violate any forum rules.

For the SSD Caching; The ASMedia controller will work for conventional drives, oddly enough it won't work for peripheral devices like ODDs (such as DVD-RWs). SSD Caching cannot be used for a partition of a drive, it requires the whole thing.

Quickgate can be used for any drive, to do anything. Basically it is just a USB port mounted on the motherboard. You could certainly create a bootable Windows 7 usb key and attach it to there, or a bootable OS. Both of those ideas are probably the best purpose for this feature!
