Some strange issue

So about a week ago i had a hard drive die on me. Replaced it with an older one and the pc works great. Yesterday when I was gaming i had a BSOD. I didn't save any of the information because i restarted it and it went away. I ran Prime95 all night and watched my GPU temps when in game and concluded that wasn't the problem. Just now however, I was playing global offensive and when i started it up the game just lagged like crazy. It normally gets 60+ frames but then it went down to 30. I minimized to start up a temp program and the mouse kept getting stuck as I was moving it. It would just stop for a split second and then continue. So i exited and upon restart the screen just went black but the computer remained on. This is confusing me, any input?

It should also be noted that when i do a reset, everything goes back to normal. 100 fps in global offensive, super responsive everything's fine. I'm not sure what could be going on when it acts up like that.

If your not getting high temps it could be drivers. When you installed the replacement HDD did you have to do a fresh OS installation? If yes then most likely a driver issue if no then perhaps you should. I have noticed when replacing components sometimes windows will become unstable without a fresh install. Also make sure there is nothing running in the background that is unusual i.e. possible malware.

I did a scan on malwarebytes and avast so no malware of any kind. I reformatted the drive and installed windows on it. Graphics driver is up to date but i'll run a check on all of the rest to see if something is off. I'll double check to see if the GPU is fully up to date maybe i missed something.
