So I have a computer that uses SATA connections and runs Windows 7 but need to be able to access an old program that only runs on XP. I have an old IDE HDD that I would like to try and connect to my SATA MOBO was the HDD that I previously used with this program and has all of the files on it and everything. I was wondering if anyone knows if I could get an adapter such as the Ultra IDE to Sata/Sata to IDE adapter (Product key: ULT40322, which no longer appears to be inproduction) and connect it to my MOBO in the hopes of being able to boot XP off of the old HDD and use this program I need?

That might be a little wordy so short story is:

Would an adapter like the one above work to be able to allow me to choose between which HDD my computer boots off of making it possible to run both Windows XP and 7 with out totally re-installing XP and the program then transferring all of the files that I need from the old HDD over?

If so what adapter is recommended?

Thanks in advance.

I have one of those but what it won't do is boot XP, or at least I haven't been able to get it to. And I am hoping that if I do the adapter I can put it all in the case and not have to worry about the HDD being on the outside.
