How do I enable AHCI mode in the gigabyte 3D BIOS?

Which board? I'm not sure if all but certainly many gigabyte boards enable it by default. If not, click on the peripherals tab and change SATA Mode Selection to AHCI.
If you do this after installing your OS, you will need to reinstall it.
my motherboard is the gigabyte GA-F2A85X-UP4
I think it's already on but I'm not positive. Easy way to find out would be to look in the peripherals tab in the bios.
