Just installed an Asus Sabertooth 990FX (along side a new CPU Cooler - temps in BIOS show 30c) - upgraded from an Asus M5A78L MX Plus

My OS HDD is in a continuous boot loop and i cant even get into safe mode to install the Sabertooth drivers and remove the old ones.

i selected to prevent Windows from automatically rebooting upon the error:
STOP: 0x0000007B (0xfffff880009a9e8, 0xffffffffc0000034, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000)

The MB & Cooler are the only changes made to my computer.

I'm sure i could go and reinstall Windows 7, but i do have some bookmarks tied to my browser on it i would like to back up (not overly important)

any other options i should try before reinstalling?

To save your bookmarks you could boot from your W7 install media and use the repair console to access your HDD and copy the bookmarks to a USB flash drive or similar.

You can also attempt an 'inplace upgrade' which may or may not retain your user profiles. To perform the in place upgrade, choose 'Upgrade' rather than custom when booting from your install media.

I assume you're talking about the 'Repair your computer' option

my attempt using that gives me the error:
'This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair'

if that's not the option you meant, would you mind giving me a little more depth on what i need to do then? ^^;

might also be worth mentioning that the copy of Windows I have installed as well as the disc is the OEM version, not retail.
