i have this hp v220w, been using it for years then last night i downloaded a file into it (a microsoft excel file. It opened fine at first but then suddenly the file seemed to crash (i dont remember the details) and when i opened My Computer, my usb which contained the excel file was only seen as Removable Disk G: without any details below it (I use Windows7).
when i clicked to explore it, it says Please insert disk to Removable Disk G: . I panicked because how come just a minute before my usb worked just fine then all of a sudden it couldn't be detected?
I've tried using many recovery softwares but no result so far because the usb can't be detected! It's like it's not even plugged in, when it is. I've tried moving it to another port as well as checking it on another computer and it still can't be detected. The computers do chime, but when i open Windows Explorer the usb itself appears only as Removable Disk X: and still can't be explored. I've tried the Disk Management thing where you change the drive letter and paths of the drive my usb is plugged into, but the problem still persists. On the Disk Management window, under the newly renamed Disk 3 Removable Disk (H:) where my usb is plugged in, it says No Media.

What should I do?? Is there any way to get my files back? sorry for my poor english

I'm sorry. Your USB stick is probably dead beyond recovery. This happens. Has happened to me a couple of times. Even on a relatively new stick. I never use USB sticks for important data exactly for this reason.

If you know some Linux experts, try putting the stick in a Linux machine. These often are more tolerant than windows, and may be able to see and/or recover data from the stick.
