If its for gaming, then you want one with 120Mh refresh and 1 or 2 ms responce time. I would save a bit more and get something like a BenQ XL2720T or XL2420T....or I forget the Ausus one that has similar spects but 144Mh........

I prefer Only Asus and Samsung Monitors as to me they are of the highest quality and better screens. That said, You have selected some great IPS displays from Asus, I aren't a fan of LG and AOC as seeing them the contrast just looks a little blurry compared to that of a Samsung or Asus.

Since I always recommend asus as everyone has one in their list, I have owned both and are equally as good but I am going to go with Samsung.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-S24C750PS-Monitor-250cd-1920x1080/dp/B00BFTRSQO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1389245761&sr=8-1&keywords=samsung+IPS

This is a Samsung 23.6" PLS display, Not IPS but are exactly the same image quality. Generally as an overall PLS on a Samsung Monitor is better then IPS. I also like the finish on the Samsung monitor as well as it looks really nice. With the 27" LG IPS monitor you listed, I wouldn't touch an LG, I went in-store once was looking at both an LG Flatron and a Samsung Series 5 Monitor and man, what a difference! The LG looked so grainy and terrible whilst the samsung looked far more crisp and much better quality. I would go for the Samsung Monitor I listed and as I own a Samsung for reassurance. They are equally and of somewhat better then Asus.

ms is a total gimmick, don't fall into these traps people! Those numbers are generally meaningless because pixel response time is not the same as input lag. Forget ms as a factor with these types of monitors it's just meaningless numbers.

120Mh? What? you mean Hz? no point the human eye can't tell anything above 30fps which 30fps is 60Hz. 120Hz is 60fps and you won't even tell the difference between 60Hz my friend. Response time.....See above.

it all depends of the budget. and yes input lag is the most important so we are limited to 120hz monitors which destroy evething else??. ! if willing to pay 400$ go for it.i a have benq 2420t 120hz and it rocks you should see grid 2 at 100fps. anyway who is sutisfied playing with 30fps????.! i guess most probably a console player....

Lol yes, Hz...that's the one....and tbh, I'm so bored of this argument it's not funny....and I'm not going to take you on as it's a futile argument and not one I'm remotely interested in entering. For the benefit of the OP, when I moved from a Dell 24" 60Hz screen to the BenQ XL2720T, I noticed I was winning more gun fights, the general ability to target was easier and moving about smoother than before (and this experience was right from the start of the first match with this monitor). I'm not a scientist and don't care for the reasons my experience changed, but they certainly have......so irrespective of a technical argument which I can't present anyway....gaming is an experience, not a number crunching exercise...so if it enhances your experience, it's just a case of deciding by how much next to price and affordability. Same with Audio, or Photography.....if your experience is bettered....who gives a hoot for the pseudo-science (the eye can't see this, the ear can't hear that....) just trust your own judgement and don't get bogged down in too much analysis....this is an enthusiast hobby....so try it....and decide for yourself.....

going for 120Hz is pointless, unless your some hardcore sniper who can actually tell the difference then why not. You can't see much of a difference between 60Hz and 120Hz. Satisfied at 30fps ha? Does it even matter if your satisfied, Saying my monitor is playing at 60fps is that satisfying? it is what the OP wants and for $400, what a waste of money and his budget is clearly out of that so why mention it anyways. For $400 in the UK (which the OP is buying from a UK site), why 120Hz when you can go 1440p!, much more satisfaction there. Can you actually say that 120Hz is worth $400? Compared to a $220 PLS/IPS monitor.

The things you need to look for when looking for a monitor are the following:
These are the minimum things you want to have when buying a monitor!

High refresh rate (60hz or higher)
Short as possible response time (5ms or lower)
Max resolution (1920x1080 or higher)
Contrast Ratio (Higher the number the better it is)
Display Inputs (HDMI, DVI, VGA)
Screen size (You don't want anything lower then 20" for gaming, but It's personal preference)
Extra features (touch screen settings, rotatable screen, anything that benefits you is a +)

Hope that helps.

Doesn't matter about the response time people!, forget that completely, All these manufacturers showing 2ms and not 2ms and there is this amazing difference between them is a total gimmick. It doesn't matter. All you really need in this case is a monitor between 23-24", IPS or PLS, and 1080p @ 60Hz. For the budget going over 60Hz is too expensive.

Please....noone listen to this guy and his utter rubbish. I have experienced the difference going from 60hz 7ml responce to a 120hz 1ms responce and the difference is night and day.......night and day. So anyone telling you otherwise is just plain wrong.

Ok but if you want to move from 60 to 120 hz and drop down the ms you have to forget the IPS monitors.

So if someone want to go not only 100% for gaming but lets say 70% gaming and then 30 % movies, MS office etc then IPS or high refresh rate ?

Thanks

My BenQ XL2720T comes with a dongle where I can make 3 presets....I run 1 for FPS games and 3 for normal web browsing and watching TV Dramas etc....and I'm happy enough...I still have my 24" Dell and it is better for browsing and watching vids, but the BenQ is more than good enough for both jobs. If I was doing Photography, then I'd just use the Dell.

Seriously man, they are not as good as you are making them to be. Night and day...Come on! It isn't 100x better or something, Putting the much extra money into something that in my experience isn't worth it. 60Hz is fine. 120Hz don't have IPS displays and for the price between them, A 60Hz IPS display is all you need and not such an overkill of a price. You really stop need to be making 120Hz sound like heaven, seriously its not as good as you are trying to make it sound to be. Yes there is a difference but not too much to make me say put the extra money into it. If your willing to spend the extra, I would recommend going to 1440p @ 60Hz, That is a much better viewing experience then 1080p @ 120Hz.
