Hi everyone, my current sytem is as follows:
Gigabyte X58A-UD7 motherboard
Intel core i7 990X sl366
6GB RM
nVidia GTX590

I am thinking of upgradingthe graphic card to an nVidia 780 Ti to improve my Battlefiled 4 gaming experience combined with a viewsonic 2560x1440 monitor.
Is this worthwhile doing as an upgrade, or should Ireally be updating MB, Ram and CPU also?
Thanks for your help.

I agree that the 780Ti is a beast, but the rest of the system needs to be specced well to go with it. BF4 is a high CPU intensive game.

Having only yesterday swapped out 2 old Radeon 7870's (2gb each) for a Evea overclocked 780Ti, it spanks my old cards. I can now run BF4 on Ultra everything maxed and I'm still getting 120-140 on average FPS...

OK abit more information - I have a watercooled rig, two loops: 1 for CPU 1 for GPU. 64 bit Windows 7 running on a 128GB 6Gb/s SSD and X1TB drives.

After reading our advice (and getting drawn back into upgrades) I'm thinking a full upgrade to MB, CPU, RAM and GPU as follows:

Asus P9X79 PRO Intel X79 (Socket 2011) DDR3 Motherboard
Intel 4820K 3.70GHz (Ivybridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor
EVGA GeForce GTX 780Ti Classified "Dual BIOS" 3072MB Watercooled Graphics Card with Backplate (supplier will fit the block, saving me the hassle and keeping a warranty!)
Watercooled Memory Kit - TeamGroup Xtreem LV "Frost Edition" 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C10 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit

So I'll ad the Ram into one of the loops - most likely CPU, due to easier fitting.

Any thoughts on this setup please......

This should solve your question ....

Here is a benchmark test of the GTX 780 Ti alongside other high end cards playing Battlefield 4 on 3 different resolutions on Ultra settings!

I think you should change your system completely :D
The 4820k isn't much better than the i7 4770k but consumes much more power. And Haswell motherboards are more modern than Sandy/Ivy Bridge-E. If you really need a lot of CPU power, you should get the 4930k, but I don't think you need it.
For the GPU, save $70 and get the MSI version. It's the same thing, but it runs cooler than the EVGA: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127770
That watercooled RAM must be expensive... And 2400 Mhz isn't that worthwhile. Get this instead: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f31866c9d16gxm
About the motherboard, if you want the 4770k, get one of these four: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-maximusvihero

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz87xud4h
http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-motherboard-z87mpower

If you want 4820k/4930k, get one of these ones or the one you selected: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-motherboard-gax79up4

If you want a beast motherboard that has everything you could ever wish for, get this one: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-motherboard-rampageivextreme
