Hello there! The best processor you can have in your motherboard is a Core 2 Duo E6700 2666MHz.

Can be found here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Intel-Core-2-Duo-E6700-2-66Ghz-CPU-Processor-SL9ZF-Socket-775-/331102262187?pt=UK_Computing_CPUs_Processors&hash=item4d173b93ab

NOTE - By the look of your CPU, it looks like your PC might be ageing a little. I would upgrade IF you have the money. If you don't, the E6700 will give a good performance boost.

Hope I Helped :)

I gather this is from an HP pc. As google results come back with HP.

HP's website indicate the following possible processors
Core 2 Duo E6x00
Core 2 Duo E4x00
Pentium D 9x0 Dual Core
Pentium D 8xx Dual Core
Pentium 4 6x1 series
Celeron D 3xx series

I suggest leaving with what you have or upgrade to the highest E6xxx series processor (I don't know what that one is sorry).

BUMP

I read this thread about upgrading the CPU in your ASUS P5LP-LE motherboard. I am trying to upgrade mine in a prebuilt HP desktop. Did you have success upgrading to the Core 2 Duo E6700? I bought this processor and am having trouble. My system will not boot up with the E6700 installed. When I hit the power button, the case fans all turn on, but there are no hard drive or DVD drive noises or lights. My next step is to reinstall the old CPU and make sure the system still works in the original configuration.

My question is this: Did your upgrade to the C2D E6700 work? Also, did you have to update the BIOS? If so, where did you find the update?
