HDTV as computer monitor

Hi i was wondering if it was possible for a tv to function like a computer monitor. like i have my laptop hooked up to a vizio razor e series tv and when the laptop shuts off the screen the tv no longer recieves the signal and i like to leave music playing but it is shutoff when the laptop shutsoff the display. so my question is is it possible to set a tv up like a computer monitor. so when the laptop shuts the display off the screen goes black and music is still playing is it possible.

Oh. Do you have enabled "Power Saver" mode? If you do, you could change the plan to "High Performance" mode or you could look at advanced power settings if there is something causing your laptop going in to the sleeping mode.

thats not what i meant i was saying when windows turns the display off like when its sitting for a certain amount of time the tv will say no signal found and i cant hear my music anymore. I was wondering if there was a work around this problem.
