Please save me from my G700 mouse

A few months ago I found the Logitech G700 mouse on sale, decided it felt perfect and met all my other needs and bought 3 of them (for work and 2 computers at home). I was very happy for a few days until the incredibly annoying issues started. The same as everyone else, it seems. I would either like to find a fix (doubtful) or at least get some recommendations for different mice that meet my needs. I'm on a computer at least 10 hours a day and want a mouse that just works.

First, since replacing is more likely, here are my needs:
- Wireless and rechargeable
- Similar size to G700 (this is very important or I cramp up throughout the day)
- At least 5 buttons
- Similar configuration to the G700 as I've been using mice laid out like this for probably 10 years
- Not terribly expensive. I need to buy 3 of these things and anything close to $100 is too much. Unless it's really that good.

And second, here are the issues I've been having with the G700 that, if fixed, would make it the best mouse I've ever used. As best as I can describe them, at least, because most of the time I have no idea WTH is going on with this thing.

- Random profile issues. To simply things I've used the Logitech Gaming Software to delete ALL profiles except for the first on all 3 mice. It will still randomly switch to an unknown profile and be wrong until I do some unknown combination of clicks in LGS.

- Randomly causes some weird issue in Windows 7 that won't let me click. No idea what's going on here, but it just happened again. I can move the cursor around but I can't click on anything. I'm 90% sure the issue is the mouse but I can't confirm. After turning it off and on, plugging it in, unplugging it, opening LGS, etc etc etc it eventually starts working again. Unless I give up and reboot.

- USB profile issues. When I plug it in via usb to charge, it switches to yet another unknown profile. Unplug it and it usually reverts back to what I want.

- ...which is an issue because the battery life is terrible. I have Power Saving mode enabled and polling rate set as low as possible and my battery is dead in a day and a half at work. I put a new 1900mah Eneloop battery in and it didn't help. I could live with this if it weren't for all the other problems but it's still disappointing.

And finally, here is how I use my mouse and other notes:
I'm a software developer with bad aim and don't play many games. I really just need a good wireless mouse that is comfortable to use and has 2 extra buttons for back and forward. I don't play many games. I don't need profiles and I don't need a super high resolution sensor with a high polling rate. I don't have time to be tinkering with it all the time - I want it to just work, maybe after one initial setup. Just a quality wireless mouse that will work consistently and help put off my inevitable CTS surgery.

If anyone can help you'll save me a ton of frustration. This Logitech Gaming Software really makes me want to stab somebody in the eye but I don't know what I can do without it. Thanks in advance!

I know your frustration and anger. I have used logitech mice and keyboards for quite some time, and I personally think that their software programmers are all high on major drugs and alcohol -combined.
You did not say if you are using their keyboard also, but the combination of their mouse and keyboard and the notorious gaming software is enough to cause severe mental trauma. Their tech support was less then helpful, telling me to revert to older drivers if the new ones didn't work: duuuhhhhh, thanks.
Try uninstalling ALL current logitech software. YOu might have to go into RegEdit and hunt down all the remaining files.
Start in control panel>programs and features and remove everything Logitech. Then, if you are daring enough, into Reg Edit (Start Button>search box>regedit) and delete all logitech files. Lastly, device manager: if the mouse is still there, uninstall it.
Reboot
See if it runs on the generic drivers from Windows.
Now the more difficult part: if you have to use the Logitech drivers to get the thing to even work, hunt down the drivers from 2-3 years ago: NOT the gaming drivers, find the older Set Point drivers. They very well might solve your problems. They were the ones that solve my problems with keyboard and mouse.
I had a G700 and loved it, but had to use older, separate drivers for my keyboard and mouse. Would still have it but the damn thing broke.
Sooo, the replacement was a R.A.T. 7. The advertising is not hype: It is totally customisable (sic) for fit. I had some issues with my pc and deleted the pc software for the mouse, but loaded the drivers (two separate packages) and it has run fine since. Do some research on it before buying, there have been some quality problems; however mine is still working after a year.
UPdate: Sorry, just noticed you need a wireless mouse and the RAT7 is wired; they do have a wireless version & I think that's a RAT 9.
good luck.

Thanks for the input. I am using just the mouse (along with a Microsoft 4000 ergo keyboard). I tried uninstalling everything and installing SetPoint, but my back/forward buttons weren't working.

So I installed LGS again, the latest version, and with the mouse plugged in reset it to all defaults and then reconfigured the way I want to use it. So far it seems to be working. I hope it holds out.

Sorry, been busy. Glad it is working. Let us know if if messes u p again. I am currently using one of the new LGS versions for my G510 keyboard, and it is actually working pretty well (compared to all the other versions I have tried and removed). The only glitch, for my system, is if I put my PC into 'sleep' mode or I shut it down or restart it, the keyboard program doesn't wake up and I have to exit the program and then start it again; but this version at least keeps my profiles. Compared to previous lgs software, this is a minor issue so I have stuck with it.
Maybe they cleaned up the mouse problems, too.

Well, when I got to work this morning the profile was wrong again. Opened up LGS, it told me no mouse was connected. Turned the mouse off and back on and it was fixed.

FWIW, the issue is my G4 and G5 buttons switching from forward-back to moving my windows around (like windows key+left/right). So I'll navigate to a directory in Explorer, do some work, then click on the back button. Instead of going up a directory it moves my window to the left side of the screen. I instinctively click the button that should be forward, and the window that was behind my explorer window now moves to the right side of the screen. SMH

almost sounds like a Windows problem. Have you checked in the Control Panel mouse settings to see if something isn't amiss there?
Does the mouse work as a regular mouse should withOUT the Logitech software?
Lastly, what logitech software and what version are you using? I have the drivers for Setpoint 632_X64. If you need them let me know and we can work something out in Priv. Msg. to get them to you. I also have some Set Point 480_x64 drivers.
